Worship at Bayou Quarterly Meeting

The Bayou Quarterly Meeting is a quarterly of South Central Yearly Meeting comprised of Friends from Louisiana (Baton Rouge, Lafayette, New Orleans,) and Southeast Texas (Galveston, Houston, Bryan-College Station). Although we are a quarterly meeting, we only meet once a year because of the wide geographical area our quarterly covers. The weekend which includes the second Sunday in October every year we spend a relaxed weekend together, getting reacquainted and conducting quarterly business in Moss Bluff, Louisiana, north of Lake Charles.

A side effect of being the quarterly meeting that was most affected by hurricanes Katrina and Rita of 2005 is that we have a new awareness of our spiritual ties to the wider Quaker community. Friends from all over the world contacted us with offers of relief and spiritual support, for which we are truly thankful and from which we still draw strength as we continue to struggle to recover from the devastating effects in our eastern region. There is still much to be done in New Orleans and Friends Meeting of New Orleans is a small but active meeting helping their community in as many ways as they can. For more information, either contact Friends Meeting of New Orleans directly, or click here to contact Pam Arnold, the Bayou Quarterly Relief Coordinator.
