Longtime member of LOFM, Dave is a physician in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Before then, he worked for a time with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, India. He is the founder and president of Healthcare for the Homeless, Houston and is on the board of directors of the International Street Medicine Society. He was recently appointed by the US Government Accountability Office to the Consumer Operated and Oriented Plan (CO-OP) Program Advisory Board. This board will make recommendations to the US Department of Health and Human Services on grants and loans to establish nonprofit, member-run health insurers serving the individual and small-group markets. The board was created as a part of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act.
