Your Questions about the Floor - answered!

By Susan Long - Posted on September 18 2014

We have gotten a lot of questions and anxiety about the installation of the new floor. Here are the answers to some of the questions - if you have any other questions or feedback, please contact Susan Long, the clerk of Worship and Ministry.
When will the floor be installed?
We are not sure - the wood has been ordered for several weeks, but has not been shipped as of this writing (9/18/14).
What are the steps for installing the floor?
The wood will have to acclimate to the meeting house environment for a few weeks by sitting on the meeting house floor. We will be able to have meeting as usual during that time - except for maybe being a bit more crowded! The installers say that after the wood is ready, they should be able to install the floor in three days, and have it ready to walk on.
Will the kids be inconvenienced?
The wood will be acclimating in the meeting room, so the kids should be able to have their classes as usual.
How will it affect Meeting for Worship?
W&M has decided that, in the event that we are not able to meet in the meeting room on a Sunday, we will rent a tent and fans for that Sunday, and meet outside on the lawn. We talked about trying to meet offsite but decided in the end it was not a good idea. As the fall approaches, the weather is getting cooler, so if we have to do this, hopefully the heat will not be a big problem. We will certainly work with the installers to time the installation to cause minimal disruption to the Meeting for Worship. With any luck, they will be able to start work on a Monday, and finish on a Friday, and we will be able to meet as usual on Sunday.
Again, if you have any other questions or concerns, please contact us.
