2005: Live Oak Friends Meeting 50th Anniversary Celebration
On Saturday, April 16, 2005, Live Oak Friends Meeting celebrated its 50th Anniversary with a buffet dinner at the Meetinghouse that included donors from the community and members and attenders of LOFM and artist James Turrell.

About 100 people attended. Other guests were Meetinghouse architect Leslie Elkins and building fundraiser Sally Reynolds. At sunset, a special viewing of the Sky Space was held with James Turrell in attendance.
The occasion afforded Turrell an opportunity to uniquely share his “visual ministry” with the LOFM community. Friends of the Meeting and members and attenders viewed the Sky Space together with Turrell as the sun faded into night. Turrell designed the Sky Space, which serves as an art piece.
Burnham Terrell concluded the evening by performing Aaron Copland’s composition, Simple Gifts.
On Sunday, April 17 the children of the Meeting presented oral histories of the Meeting. At a potluck attenders reminisced and considered the future.
